Music label defends Zack Tabudlo on ‘attitude problem’ issue

Universal Records addresses the controversy involving one of its artists, Zack Tabudlo, following allegations that the hit singer has an attitude problem.

Universal Records on December 12 released a statement addressing the controversy involving one of its artists, Zack Tabudlo, following allegations that the hit singer has an attitude problem.

The issue stemmed from a Facebook post shared by writer-director Gayle Oblea accusing Zack of being “rude and obnoxious”

In her viral Facebook post — which she shared on December 11 but has since deleted — Oblea said, “This kid was supposed to play on stage at 10:15 p.m., a couple of weeks ago. His band was already on stage, everybody was ready, except sa kanya na ayaw pa umakyat dahil 10 p.m. pa lang daw.

“Dahil nga awkward na, pinuntahan na siya ng head of events (who is a woman, I won’t mention her name anymore. Pero if you know her she is an absolute sweetheart when you talk to her). Pinakiusapan na umakyat siya cause they’re all waiting for him, he shouted na 10:15 p.m. pa siya sabay bagsak ng pintuan. Even his manager apologized on his behalf because he was rude and obnoxious.”

She went on to claim that Zack stormed off stage after the crowd collectively called him out for his alleged attitude problem.

“Ayun. So, kaya ekis na siya sa akin. BLOCKED!!!” she added.

The As The Moth Flies filmmaker then revealed Zack as the singer she was pertaining to in her viral post.

Sharing a screenshot with an image of the singer’s face, Oblea said, “ISA KANG MALAKING EKIS sakin, bata ka.”

In a statement, Universal Records addressed the controversy and defended Zack on the allegations, which they tagged as false and defamatory.

“It has come to our attention that a certain individual is spreading false, damaging, and defamatory remarks about our artist Zack Tabudlo during a booked show last December 4, 2022, at Makati. To address the issues which have been raised, there were minor incidents, not involving Zack himself at all, that occurred during the event. These were immediately resolved with the organizers and all ended well,” read the statement.

“On December 11, 2022, this certain individual, who was not present at the said incidents nor affiliated to the client, posted claims on social media about our artist that were false and defamatory. UMG PH will not tolerate this kind of behavior towards our artists and colleagues,” it added.

The management also said that they are now consulting with their legal team and will take legal action “for the damages this individual has inflicted.”

Meanwhile, Zack’s father RJ Villar Tabudlo also took to social media to defend his son from the said accusations.

“Please stop the hate kasi minsan ‘di natin alam ano talaga nangyayari,” he said. “Napakabait na bata nyan ni Zack, napaka. Especially sa mga lumalapit, you can even ask his bodyguards, pinapagalitan sila ni Zack ‘pag pinipigil mga tao mag pa-picture sa kanya.”

Zack, 21, is considered one of the most popular music acts in the country today. He is the singer behind the hits “Pano,” “Habang Buhay,” “Binibini,” “Asan Ka Na Ba,” and “Nangangamba.”
