Apart from Guji, making his appearance in the international drama is Filipino actor Nico Antonio who auditioned for his part in the series.
When a chance to be a part of this project presented itself, I was having second thoughts in taking it on, only because I have a busy day job that I’m extremely passionate and dedicated to,” he shared.
Guji recalled how he didn’t know how big of a project the Disney+ series would be. The actor shared how it was fate that made the way to make his auditions possible despite his busy schedule.
But for some reason or another, the schedules miraculously aligned. And I had no idea this project was going to be a big deal. It was such an amazing experience to see how our TV and film counterparts abroad work, and meet all these amazing superstar actors, such as Choi Min-sik,” he added.
The actor didn’t reveal his character in the series just yet but gave away some takeaways he had learned while on set. Guji was thankful for the experience as he also made some new friends such as Son Suk-ku, even going as far as taking them out and visiting some tourist destinations in Metro Manila.
Whether or not I get to work with them again in the future, all I can say is I made some amazing connections, including becoming friends with Min and Son Suk-ku. I met Son Suk-ku and Min while acting in the project, Big Bet. I was able to take them around Metro Manila on an off day, and even showed them a bit of our music scene. We all hit it off pretty quick, and spent a lot of time sharing stories and laughs that day,” he recalled.
Despite the status the South Korean actors had, Guji added that they were able to connect due to the similarities they had with one another.
We all had roots in the US, and we were all around the same age, as well. These two dudes, and Son Suk-ku especially, were seriously some of the coolest dudes I’ve ever met. Super down to earth and you would never guess were also K-Drama superstars back in their home country,” he said.
Guji maintained that even though their filming has ended, they’re still in contact with one another.
Big Bet will be available on Disney+ starting this December 21. It stars South Korean actors Choi Min-Sik, Son Suk-ku, Lee Dong-hwi, Heo Sung-tae, and Kim Joo-ryung.
