Juliana Gomez wins gold in fencing competition in Indonesia
Richard Gomez and Lucy Torres’s only daughter Juliana Gomez bags the top prize in the West Java fencing challenge in Indonesia.
Following in the footsteps of her father Richard Gomez in becoming an accomplished fencer, Juliana Gomez emerged victorious in her second international fencing tournament this year. In his Instagram post last December, Richard, who has been president of the Philippine Fencing Association since 2016, proudly shared his only child’s latest gold medal accomplishment.
He wrote, “Congratulations @gomezjuliana for winning the Gold in the West Java Fencing Challenge 2022 in Bogot, Indonesia.
You make our country proud!

Last November, Juliana already made her parents proud by winning the Thailand Open Fencing Championship. Dad Richard wrote in his post, “May you keep on winning and bring more honor to the country.”
Juliana is a Public Administration student at the University of the Philippines Diliman where she initially joined the UP Volleyball team before shifting to fencing during the pandemic. Last year, Juliana was rumored to be dating fellow fencer Miggy Bonnevie-Bautista after photos of them being sweet together were shared online.
