Chito Miranda reveals losing his voice: ‘My worst nightmare bilang bokalista!’
Parokya ni Edgar frontman Chito Miranda gets candid about playing his worst performance on stage this year.
With just a few days left until Christmas, celebrities look forward to go on their holiday break in order to spend more quality time with their families. Same goes for Parokya ni Edgar vocalist Chito Miranda who shared what happened during their band’s last gig for the year. The 46-year-old singer explained why he considered it his worst performance for the year.
In his Instagram post last December 21, Chito talked about a band gig he did not expect to push through which also landed on the same day as a planned beach vacation with his family. He wrote, “Huling hirit. Last gig ng 2022.
“Tonight’s gig was definitely my worst for this year…but also one of the best for Parokya.
“Tuluy-tuloy kasi ang gigs ng Parokya buong December, and dapat di na daw tuloy ‘tong gig na ‘to…so akala ko last gig na namin nung 19 (Monday) at nag-sked na ko ng bakasyon with my kids ng Tuesday (20-21).
“Eh biglang natuloy.
“Ayoko naman i-cancel yung plans ko with my family…so ayun: nag-Pico kami at naligo kami sa beach habang umu-ulan at nag-enjoy naman kami ng todo hehe (sulit naman dahil sobrang nag-enjoy yung kids).”
“Pero yun nga… nawalan na ko ng boses. My worst nightmare bilang bokalista.”
Upon returning to Manila, Chito went straight to the gig and hoped to rest his voice until he had to take the stage. The OPM artist ended his post being thankful to his audience for being so gracious and appreciating their music despite his shortcomings.
“Mula Pico, dumiretso na ko Edsa Shang…and tried my best to rest in my hotel room. Todo tubig at tulog.
“Wala talaga…sama talaga ng boses ko.
“Ginising na ko at tutugtog na daw kami.
“Buti nalang sobrang saya ng crowd…and wala silang paki sa boses ko. Sinabayan lang nila kami buong set.
“Ayun…ang ending, napadami pa kami ng kanta at sobrang enjoy yung gabi. I was struggling buong set at nahihiya talaga ako kasi di ko mabigay yung best ko…pero ni once never pina-feel ng crowd na kulang yung binibigay namin bilang banda.
“Sobrang saya talaga.
“Maraming, maraming salamat po!!!”
Parokya ni Edgar was first formed in 1993 when Chito Miranda was an Ateneo de Manila high school student along with his friends and fellow band members Vinci Montaner, Dindin Moreno, Gab Chee Kee, Buwi Menesis, and later on Darius Semaña. In 1996, their first album Khangkhungkherrnitz, instantly became a triple platinum hit. They have since released more than a dozen albums throughout their almost three decade career and are known as one of the enduring OPM bands in the country.
