Poppert Bernadas postpones his sold-out concert: ‘Patawad po. Hindi po sinasadya’
In an official statement released by Star Magic, singer Poppert Bernadas postpones his concert due to his health.
After entering showbiz in 2015 when he joined the second season of the ABS-CBN singing competition The Voice of the Philippines on Coach Sarah Geronimo’s team, singer Poppert Bernadas has steadily made a name for himself in the industry. The 35-year-old The Voice alumnus first announced his major concert “Ang Musika, Ang Teatro At Ako” last October which eventually led to sold-out ticket sales this month.
But last December 23, the talented artist announced the postponement of the event due to health reasons on his Instagram page. He wrote, “Sobrang sakit sa loob ko ito, pero it has to be done.
“I developed a virus, not Covid, that has affected my secondary vocal cords. This only happened last week. Though I can sing one or two songs, I cannot sing the full repertoire that I had planned for my Triple Threats concert, ‘Ang Musika, Ang Teatro at Ako’.
“When I thought of steroids, my Doctor Melfred Hernandez looked at the repertoire and said that it would be best to heal fully before attempting it. When I was faced with the choice to lessen the rep from 14 songs to just 10, I felt even worse because that would mean I would cheat you all of the show you bought into.
“Kaya sana maintindihan niyo na best option ko na ang mag-postpone. Sa tulong at pag-iintindi ng CCP management, nakahanap sila ng bagong date. Inaasahan ko sana na huwag muna kayo magpa refund dahil babalik ako— fresher, fairer, stronger—sa January 14, 2023 sa Tanghalang Ignacio Gimenez (CCP Black Box Theater).
“Muli, patawad po. Hindi po sinasadya. Umaasang patatawarin at patuloy na tangkilikin.”
In the comments section, ABS-CBN Star Magic Head and director Lauren Dyogi sent the singer his regards by writing, “Pagaling ka.”
A few days before the event, Poppert shared a video of himself rehearsing Christmas songs with National Artist Ryan Cayabyab and the Manila Symphony Orchestra. Poppert was also an original member of the Ryan Cayabyab Singers.
