Nadine Lustre on winning the MMFF Best Actress award: ‘I really did give my all’
‘Deleter’ star Nadine Lustre talks about winning her first Best Actress award at the 48th MMFF Gabi ng Parangal.
With her horror film Deleter emerging as the big winner at the 48th Metro Manila Film Festival awards night, Nadine Lustre admitted it was not the most important thing for her that her film was at the top of the box office.
“I think second to the last shoot namin, that’s when they told us na ilalagay siya sa MMFF. So we didn’t know how to feel to be honest kasi MMFF is such a big thing. But we’re really, really happy to be part of the MMFF. To me kasi it doesn’t really matter if you’re number one, two, three, four, five, whatever. At least everyone’s enjoying the film. That’s the only thing that matters.
“I’m really very happy kasi nga this is my first time doing a horror film. So at least alam ko na kaya ko pala mag-horror film. And after watching din nung premiere night, I was really, really happy with the work that I did. I’m just happy that everyone’s enjoying the film,” she said.
After winning Best Actress for her performance, the 29-year-old star said she is proud of her work in her horror acting debut. “Parang lahat naman kina-career ko talaga (laughs). I think that goes with everything that I do. I really give it my 110% in everything. So yun naman talaga ako. I really did give my all so I’m proud of my work here. Everyone did good so I’m not really expecting anything. Bahala na. I’m just happy that Deleter is finally out,” she shared.
Aside from her Best Actress award, Deleter also won Best Picture, Best Director, Best Cinematography, as well as Best Visual Effects among others.
“Ang greatest reward na take home ko dito is nagustuhan ng mga Filipino yung Deleter. Kumabaga sobrang laking bonus talaga nitong mga awards namin pero proud naman kaming lahat sa Deleter. Tsaka binigay talaga namin lahat ng effort namin, lahat ng dugo, pawis, binigay po talaga namin. So masaya ako. Sobrang saya and sobrang grateful ko. Thank you for the non-stop support and for everyone who’s been there since day one. To all of the fans and to my Viva family of course and to team Deleter,” she added.
Nadine also shared the MMFF Star of the Night award alongside Nanahimik Ang Gabi star and Best Actor winner Ian Veneracion.
The Deleter actress made sure to thank people for embracing her latest onscreen character despite the film’s offbeat nature.
“Maraming salamat for loving the movie and my character as well. I don’t think Lyra is relatable so hindi ko alam kung naka-relate kayo but happy ako na napasigaw namin kayo this Christmas,” she said.
