Lauren Dyogi admires H.E.R. for being proud of her Filipino roots.
Star Magic Head and ABS-CBN’s Head of TV Production Lauren Dyogi met Grammy-winning Filipino-American artist H.E.R. at an event in Manila recently.
“@liankylamusic (Lauren’s daughter) and I together with other starmagic artists had the honor of meeting Gabriella Sarmiento Wilson aka H.E.R. at the MYX event in Sheraton Hotel tonight,” he posted on his Instagram page.
The ABS-CBN executive expressed his excitement meeting the talented artist.
“Nakakatuwang makilala ang isang sikat na Fil-American singer songwriter who was maintained her humility and pride of being a Filipino,” he posted.
Lauren added, “Thank you Gabby for being so humble and amiable and for making us proud of being Pinoy! Cheers to great Filipino talent!”
Lauren shared a video excerpt from H.E.R.’s interview at the event.
In the video, H.E.R. said: “I was on tour with Coldplay so I was on stadiums all over the world and that was a crazy experience. Of course Beauty and the Beast is like the number one highlight because I got to be a Disney Princess. But also I shot The Color Purple so you will see me in that movie next year.”
The singer added, “And yeah I think I am most proud of, just the growth that I have experienced this year. I am really proud of myself. And it takes a lot to be able to say that but you gotta remember to give yourself props and to pat yourself on the back and then take a vacation in the Philippines.”
H.E.R. released her debut EP H.E.R. Vol. 1 in September 2016.
The Filipino-American singer’s first compilation album called H.E.R. in 2017 was nominated for five Grammys. Her second compilation album I Used to Know Her, got five Grammy Award nominations.
Her 2020 single “I Can’t Breathe” won the Grammy Award for Song of the Year.
In 2022, she bagged the role of Belle in ABC’s Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration.
